The spring break ski vacation experience is truly incomplete without experiencing the aprés-ski scene.
Aprés-ski is a tradition enjoyed all season long, but it has its glory moment is during March and April, when skiers are able to bask in the beach-like rays with a cool cocktail after an equally glorious day on the mountain.
Top Three Steamboat Apres-Ski Spots
Slopeside Grill
Home of Steamboat’s infamous “ice bar,” Slopeside Grill - as the name suggests - offers a multitude of outdoor seating that merges with the ski mountain. Patrons can enjoy their apps (think: pizza, ribs, heavier apps) and beverages, all while watching skiers heading down and often with the benefit of live music in the backdrop. If you only do aprés-ski one day, choose Slopeside. (although, honestly, why would you only do it one day?)
Bear River Bar/Gondola Square
Particularly if there is live music in the Square, Bear River Bar & Grill is the place to be. Featuring a large deck and outdoor bar located directly across from the live music stage, not to mention stunning views of the mountain and its late afternoon alpenglow, Bear River is a must for the party and music-lover.
Tip: Sample Bloody Marys at all 8 on mountain resturants, get your card stamped, and get a free t-shirt to go with your delicious drinks
Truffle Pig
We want to make sure and get the Pig on this list, though it is very different from the first two. For those either not so into the spring breaky and/or louder scene, Truffle Pig may be your favorite. Offering a more upscale aprés-ski experience, with an extensive wine list, craft cocktails, and appetizers like white bean hummus, shrimp cocktail, and an excellent charcuterie board, Truffle Pig will satisfy the foodies in your group.
Moving Mountains Bonus: Your own private catered chalet
Nothing quite beats getting to kick back by the fire or soak in the hot tub while your own private chalet team mix the drinks, pour the wine, and serve the hors-d'oeuvres. Seriously - it's the ultimate in relaxation after a day on the slopes. And bonus? You're only steps from the dinner table and enjoy it all in your slippers. Total luxury, total comfort. That's how aprés should always be.
