Cruising the Corduroy in Steamboat

Skiing and riding champagne powder through the trees or tackling the steeps of the newly opened Mahogany Ridge may entice some in your group. But when you just want to cruise, Steamboat has family-friendly green and blue runs that, on a bluebird sky day, are just plain fun!

Here are our go-to groomers:

Vagabond

Take in the valley views from this fast, smooth flyer from the top of the gondola or Thunderhead Express lift. Thunderhead is an easy walk from two Moving Mountains homes - Gold Mine Lodge and Time Flys Lodge.

Tomahawk

Ride the Sunshine Express chair lift to this long, rolling run that starts out as a blue at the top and then mellows out to an easy family-friendly green pitch.

High Noon

Named for the time of day when the sun hits this long cruiser, High Noon gives you some of the best views of the valley before hitting Lower High Noon. Access to this run is off Sunshine Express lift. Steamboat has expanded its snowmaking in the Sunshine area of the mountain which creates perfect grooming conditions.

Buddy's Run

This legendary trail, named after local Olympic skier Buddy Werner, is a locals favorite that runs from the top of the Storm Peak Express lift. Be sure to wave to the Buddy Werner bust at the top of Mt. Werner before taking off downhill.

Rainbow

This accessible wide-open blue run via the Four Points lift is on the upper mountain where many trails are named after weather occurrences, such as Twister, Hurricane, Cyclone and Tornado.

West Side

Our Reservation Manager's favorite! It's a black diamond run but fast and smooth and crazy fun when it's groomed.

The Moving Mountains complimentary shuttle will get you to the slopes from your luxury vacation rental home in no time.

For even faster access, here are some Moving Mountains residences that are slopeside or within walking distance.
