There is more than one way to après ski. Why not après ski your own way this winter?
What exactly is après ski, you say? Officially, it is French for ‘after ski’. Unofficially, it’s when we get together and celebrate the day’s fun on the slopes with some libations and great company.
The thought of après ski might bring to mind a raucous crowd at a packed bar with loud music – but there are so many other options. Après ski at its heart is simply how you decide to wind down after an amazing day on the mountain. Letting your mind and body process the turns of the day.
We want to share the 3 ways that we love to après ski in the Vail Valley...
1. Slopeside Bar
One way to do it is to ski straight to the pub and belly up at the bar. Both Beaver Creek Resort and Vail Resort have lots of jovial options for grabbing a post-powder drink slopeside. There is no planning involved, just red-faced friends fresh off the slopes. Enjoy a drink with some locals and tourists alike.
A Vail favorite:
Garfinkel's - Head straight here at the base of the Eagle Bahn Gondola for a celebratory apres ski after a perfect day on the slopes of Vail Resort.
A Beaver Creek favorite:
C-Bar - This slopeside favorite in Beaver Creek has live music and great eats at the base of the Centennial Chair.
2. Hot Tub
Our personal favorite is to high-tail it back to your Moving Mountains luxury vacation home rental in the shuttle, shed your layers, and sink into your private hot tub. There's nothing quite like the magic of a hot tub surrounded by snow in the mountain air after spending the day making turns. Top it off with your favorite beer, wine, or cocktail and you've reached nirvana. (As a Moving Mountains guest, let our Guest Services team help stock your home with these essentials before arriving.)

3. Fire Pit
Another crowd favorite is enjoying après ski around a fire pit. The combination of a toasty fire and a core-warming cocktail sounds almost too good to be true. Where do you find said fire pit? Great question! At Breckenridge Resort there are several great communal fire pits, some restaurants, or back at your vacation rental! Many of our Moving Mountains homes feature your own fire pit (or fireplace!)
