Steamboat Ski Season 2020/21 FAQs

Steamboat GondolaSteamboat is open! We were welcomed by beautiful snowfall all day long on Opening Day on Tuesday. What a greeting from Mother Nature!

With the resort open, we thought we would answer some Frequently Asked Questions you may have about Steamboat Resort this year.

As always, if you have any questions, give us a call!

If I have an Ikon pass do I need a reservation?

No. Ikon passes do not require reservations.

This is the biggest difference between Ikon and Epic passes this year. Epic passholders (Vail and Beaver Creek) require reservations to head to the mountain.

Can I get tickets if I don't have an Ikon pass?

Yes. Stand-alone tickets require an advance purchase. There are no on-site tickets sold this year. (Also, there are no stand-alone tickets available for 12/23-1/3, Ikon pass is required.) You will have access to tickets during the time of your booking with Moving Mountains, as an approved travel partner. But, you must pre-book, let us know and we can handle this for you!

Will I be sharing the gondola or chair lift with strangers?

Maybe. Unaffiliated parties may be sat together with at least one space between them on the gondola and chair lifts. If you want to ride solo, you can, but you may be required to wait until demand allows.

Will there be food available at the mountain?

Yes, there will be food available. However, Steamboat Springs is currently under Level Red restrictions and cannot accommodate indoor dining. The lodges on the mountain will be for restrooms and grab-and-go food only. Food availalbe at Gondola Joe's Express in Thunderhead Lodge, FourPoints Express and BBQ and the Rendezvous Deck. The Taco Beast and Pizza Ranger will also be making their rounds on the mountain, so be on the lookout!

At the base, food will be available at Timber & Torch Takeout and Grill, Gondola Joe's, Gnarly Charly's and Last Tracks.

*Please note that there is currently no indoor dining in all of Steamboat Springs. Stay tuned, this may be updated throughout the season.*

Do I need a mask?

Yes, masks are required while waiting in lines for the chair lifts and gondola, as well as most public spaces around the resort. Social distancing of 6+ feet between parties is also required.

Can I store my things while at the mountain?

No. Daily lockers and the basket check are closed for this season.

Are there lessons available?

Yes. Private lessons are available and group lessons by the half-day.

For the kids, ages 2.5 - 4, only private lessons are available. Group lessons are available for ages 5+.

What about Kids Vacation Center?

Kids Vacation Center is closed for the season this year. If you require babysitting services, there are still plenty of options and we can help you book these.

Red wagons for kids?

Yes! Red wagons will be available for use while at the resort for toting the kids and their gear around.
