Steamboat is developing as a mountain hub for craft beer with three new arrivals joining long standing Mahogany Ridge as the family of Steamboat Breweries grows to four, along with the many bars in town that serve craft beer from around the country.
From coffee porters to Belgian wits, Storm Peak Brewing, Mountain Tap Brewery, and Butcherknife Brewing are keeping it local and ever-changing with a constantly rotating set of small-batch beers flowing in each of their tasting rooms. After a long day seeking adventure around Steamboat, there’s no better way to wind down than sitting with friends around a pitcher of cold beer brewed with local love.
Mountain Tap Brewery
The wait for the perfect location for Mountain Tap Brewery was long but well worth it. The former home of Yampa Valley Electric Association and now the up-and-coming 910 Yampa project, Mountain Tap Brewery’s facility sits just across the 9th Street Bridge from Howelsen Hill, within a stone’s skip of the Yampa River and smack in the middle of Yampa Street, fast growing into Steamboat’s exhilarating Restaurant Row. Construction began on February 1, the first brew – Picking Hops IPA – was concocted on June 17, and the brewpub opened its doors last summer on July 7, 2016. Since then it has quickly become a locals favorite.
Storm Peak Brewing
"Storm Peak Brewing Co. has stockpiled its beer and is hopeful it can keep everyone from getting thirsty while it move to its new location....At the bar, there will be 20 taps instead of 10, which will allow room for non-alcoholic drinks, such as root beer.
