3 Ways to Ski Colorado

Colorado. Where ski vacation dreams come true. Our resorts serve up bluebird skies and our famous, light dry fluffy Colorado snowWith different levels of terrain from family skiing to intense, expert-only, there?s a slope for everyone.

If you?re ready to ski Colorado, our three ski resorts are the crème de la crème: Steamboat Ski Resort, Vail Ski Resort, and Beaver Creek Resort.

Steamboat Resort

Steamboat Springs Ski Resort and Barn

Why Steamboat?  A fun cowboy ski town with natural hot springs to soak your bones known for tree skiing

Skiing: With Champagne Powder gracing our slopes and a nickname of Ski Town USA, you can expect skiing of epic proportions in Steamboat Springs. The resort offers 169 trails, 2,965 skiable acres and 3,668 feet of vertical. And, not to toot our own horn, but we are home to 98 Olympians, too!

An Ikon Pass destination, Steamboat is known for its glade skiing including the flagship glades run, Closets and Shadows. Our tree skiing is the best Colorado and available between most trails on the mountain. Come, have fun, avoid the wells and ride with a buddy!

Changes are a comin' in Steamboat. The current Gondola building is being moved to the slopes to make more space in the plaza for fun. There will be a new ice skating rink, additional seating with firepits and more. But, maybe the most exciting is that they are adding 650 skiable acres over the next three years.

Town: Steamboat is more than a resort. Steamboat Springs is a charming little cowboy ski town nestled in the Yampa Valley. Enjoy the restaurants and bars in the resort area and on the mountain. Or head downtown to Lincoln Avenue and Yampa Street where the town really bustles. There are restaurants, bars and adorable shops lining the streets. This is also where you'll find Howelsen Hill, the sister to Steamboat Resort. It is popular with locals and offers free skiing on Sundays.

Although you won't struggle to find amazing après ski options in Steamboat, you do have another alternative after a long day of skiing. The natural geothermal hot springs that exist in town make it a special place. Strawberry Park Hot Springs is in a completely natural setting, built out in unique stone masonry, surrounded by trees, and the mountains encase you. It is too good to be true. Old Town Hot Springs is right in town and is a great family-friendly option with eight natural mineral pools, an aquatic rock climbing wall, two water slides, lap lanes and drop-in childcare.

How to get there:

  • Fly to Yampa Valley Regional Airport (some 45 minutes away)
  • Fly to Denver (about three or four hours out)

Accessible with the Epic Pass, Vail's vast terrain encompasses gentle beginner runs and daunting mogul runs. There are truly endless options including the famous Back Bowls and glade runs. Vail is perfect for finding new ski routes and untouched powder.

Town: Vail is known for being a very charming pedestrianized ski town with food and shopping to fill your heart's desire. It is linked by three base areas with their own quaint villages, Vail Village, Lionshead and Golden Peak. Enjoy the enchanting European feel as you stroll the cobblestone streets and enjoy the majesty that surrounds you.

Grooming is immaculate with plenty of green and blue runs to keep the family happy. The resort offers three peaks with varying skill levels.

If you're ready for a challenge, Birds of Prey is the Olympic downhill run. However, beginners and intermediates will have fun all over Beaver Creek?s 1,832 acres of terrain.

Town: The village in the heart of Beaver Creek is in a breathtaking alpine setting with shops, restaurants, an ice skating rink and much more.
