From easy jeep roads to challenging singletrack there is something for everyone who would like to explore the area on a mountain bike. The county road system criss crosses the mountains and valley floor creating spectacular and challenging day routes with low volume traffic.The Ideal Lodging BaseOur luxury homes provide the perfect base for visiting mountain bikers. Located all around the mountain area they offer prime access to over miles of specially created trails in the Routt National Forest, Howelson Hill and Emerald Mountain and in North and South Routt. The many luxury amenities provide the perfect relaxing environment to follow an exhilarating day on the trail.Mountain Bike TrailsThe Steamboat Ski Mountain offers fantastic mountain biking terrain on Mt. Werner in the Medicine Bow/ Routt National Forest. Bikes are available for rent or of course you can bring your own bike.You can ride at your own pace on a network of well marked mountain trails. Individual trails on the mountain vary in length with the longest being up to 6 miles. Trails run as far as the top of Storm Peak. A few detours are possible. Helmets are required on the mountain. Mountain bike tickets are valid all day, weather permitting. Above downtown Steamboat Springs sits Howelson Hill and Emerald Mountain which offer a connected network of diverse trails for all levels. Starting at the stables by the Alpine Slide you climb gently up the Nordic trails and the trail routes open up befor you. All routes come back to the town area so it is hard to get lost. The views and the trails are spectacular! Connecting routes accross the Continental Divide from Rabbit Ears Pass and Buffalo Pass provide great back-country trail experiences and there are numerous extended trails in North and South Routt for the more adventurous, |
