Making your Family’s Ski Vacation….Perfect

foodnwineThe goal with a family ski vacation is to have fun.

Easily said, now how do you get there…?

To kick back, enjoy time with your family and friends, explore new mountain terrain, and live stress-free for the time you’re on vacation…that takes some doing.

If you’ve been on a family vacation before, you know that the concept of “stress-free” may seem impossible.

“Who’s making breakfast…or dinner?”

“Where’s the ski school and what time do we have to be there?”

“Why do I have to do the dishes?”

These are all questions that have been known to bring out the “best” in some of us.  For those looking for the ultimate solution we gently encourage guests to take a look at our Catered Chalet Package where those worries go out the door.

With a Catered Chalet Package, we eliminate the “stressful” elements of a vacation from the get-go: Meals - from the grocery shopping to the cleanup - are taken care of (that means Mom gets a vacation, too!); Reservations and Rentals - from dining to activities to transportation to ski rentals and lessons, you don’t have to worry about a thing - your chalet hosts do it all.

What’s a day like in a Catered Chalet?  Here’s a preview:

breakfast8am: Wake to the smell of coffee and breakfast.  What’s your coffee choice: Latte? Mocha? Regular Joe? Just tell us, it’s yours.  Today’s breakfast menu? You happily discover that it’s Stuffed French toast with strawberries and cream cheese.  Don’t worry, that second helping is just energy for a day of skiing ahead!

9:15am: The family is chauffeured to the ski lifts and ski school by your Chalet Hosts. (You make a note to yourself: This is definitely better than lugging skis and kids to a bus stop, waiting, and then lugging them to your destination.)

9:45: Kids with their ski instructors, you set off for some adult fun in the snow.  Where to first?  All the way to the top!

1:15pm: Too busy enjoying the powder in Closets and Shadows, you finally realize how hungry you are.  Your group stops by Ragnar’s for a gourmet lunch, then head back out for a few more runs before picking up the kids.

4:00: After meeting the kids at ski school, you decide to walk around gondola square for some aprés ski and shopping.

5:00: Souvenirs in tow, you call your hosts for a ride “home” (so nice not waiting for a bus or taxi!).

6:00: Your Chalet Team serves Hors d’oeuvres (lump crab cakes) and an early meal for the kids.  The adults enjoy a cocktail by the fire.

dinner7:30: As the children unwind and enjoy dessert and a movie on your home’s state of the art a/v equipment, you settle in to enjoy tonight’s dinner: Rustic Duck Confit Tart with flaky pie crust, duck confit, and layers of scalloped potatoes and cream. Despite being perfectly full, you opt to try the dessert: Apple & Blackberry Crumble. Sinful.

10:00pm: Kids in bed, you head for a soak in the hot tub and then to a warm bath.  With a smile, you have to admit: This has been one of the most relaxing, enjoyable days you’ve had in a long time.  And you’re ready to do it all again tomorrow!

Stress? You haven’t seen that since landing at the Steamboat / Hayden airport…
