Steamboat 50th + Moving Mountains 15th
In January 12, 1963 a little ranch town called Steamboat Springs decided to open their not-so-little ski mountain to the public.
Breaking ground to build a ski area...
Then called Storm Mountain,” 50 years later it would prove to be one of the most popular ski destinations in the world, appropriately dubbed “Ski Town, USA” - both for it’s spectacular skiing, and also it’s record number of homegrown and trained Olympians.

Yes, this season’s a milestone for Steamboat; let the celebrations begin! We’ll be celebrating 50 years of: skiing Champagne Powder, ducking through Closets & Shadows, racing down Heavenly Daze, making epic laps on Morningside Chair, watching our children learn to get their skis under their wobbly young legs, enjoying aprés cocktails while watching alpenglow sunsets over Mt. Werner, having snowball fights then jumping into the hot tub…and so much more.

So many of our guests leave as friends having joined the family of Moving Mountains, staying with us in one of our stunning vacation properties or experiencing our Luxury Catered Chalet Packages. It has been fun all along the way and we look forward to many more years of success!
