If you are vacationing in Steamboat during the winter, then you are most certainly here for the skiing!
But what to do on the days when you want a break from the slopes? Or for those in your party who aren’t skiers? Steamboat in fact has a wealth of off-mountain activities - probably more than your time will allow!
Luckily, we’ve narrowed down a list for you:
Dog Sledding: A truly unique and thrilling experience! Grizzle-T Dog Sledding will teach you to drive your own team of Alaskan Huskies in the Steamboat backcountry. Their tours generally run twice per day, at 8am and 1pm. Be sure to call ahead to make reservation and confirm times.
Snowshoeing: Whether you want to head out on your own or go with a guide, there a variety of snowshoeing options available in Steamboat. For in-town access and all-in-one ease, try the Steamboat Ski Touring Center, which can provide rentals and gear and has beautiful trails out their backdoor. Ski Haus also offers rentals and gear, if you would like to venture out on your own on one of Steamboat’s many trails. If you’d prefer to get out of town with a guided tour, Vista Verde Guest Ranch offers beautiful snowshoe tours in North Routt.
Cross-Country Skiing: Whether you are a beginner or experienced nordic skier, the Steamboat Ski Touring Center offers options and gear from you. You can obtain a day pass to access their trails or, for the new skier, you can take a lesson with one of their experienced instructors. If would prefer to head out on your own, you can find accessible nordic trails in the area here.

Relaxation: Strawberry Park Hot Springs
The Old Town Hot Springs offers plenty of fun and relaxation for your whole family. From their water slides to their hot mineral springs, everyone will find something to love! They also offer fitness equipment and classes. You might also want to venture to the Strawberry Park Hot Springs, offering large natural mineral pools and on-site massages.
