Steamboat is still wearing its winter whites! The latest news is that Steamboat Springs, CO is under a winter storm warning until 6 a.m. Wednesday.

If you thought winter was over, think again! It’s not too late to break out those fat skis, lace up the snowboard boots and ride some of Steamboat’s finest. A STRONG SPRING STORM WILL SWEEP ACROSS THE GREAT BASIN TODAY
THROUGH TUESDAY BRINGING GUSTY WINDS AND WIDESPREAD SNOWFALL TO
THE REGION. SIGNIFICANT SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS WILL OCCUR OVER THE
MOUNTAINS OF EASTERN UTAH AND WESTERN COLORADO THROUGH EARLY
WEDNESDAY MORNING. IN ADDITION…VISIBILITIES WILL BE GREATLY
REDUCED IN BLOWING SNOW…ESPECIALLY OVER THE HIGHER MOUNTAIN
PASSES.

A WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 6 AM
MDT WEDNESDAY.

* TIMING…THE HEAVIEST SNOWFALL IS EXPECTED TONIGHT INTO
TUESDAY MORNING.

* SNOW ACCUMULATION…8 TO 16 INCHES.

* WINDS…SOUTHWEST 15 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 40 MPH EXPECTED
INCREASING TO 20 TO 30 MPH THROUGH THE MORNING WITH GUSTS OF 60
TO 70 MPH.

* VISIBILITY…HEAVIER PERIODS OF SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW WILL REDUCE
VISIBILITY TO LESS THAN A QUARTER MILE AT TIMES.

* IMPACTS…TRAVEL OVER MOUNTAIN PASSES WILL BE DANGEROUS.

A WINTER STORM WARNING MEANS SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF SNOW ARE
EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. STRONG WINDS AND BLOWING SNOW ARE ALSO
POSSIBLE. THIS WILL MAKE TRAVEL VERY HAZARDOUS OR IMPOSSIBLE.
