Relaxing in Steamboat Springs, Colorado

Finding time to relax in today’s busy world can be difficult. Yet as soon as you arrive in Steamboat, the stresses of life seem to melt away as you breathe in the fresh mountain air. Beeping Blackberrys and cell phones suddenly seem unimportant as you gaze up at the mountains that surround you.

Strawberry Park Hot Springs Here are some local tips on how to spend a day unwinding in our home town of Steamboat.

Relax at Yoga
Begin the day with a morning session of yoga at The Yoga Center of Steamboat. This beautiful studio is ideally located overlooking the Yampa River and offers classes for all levels. Listen to the rushing river and gaze toward the mountain as you practice. Drop in class is $15. Or contact Moving Mountains Chalet to book a private yoga class in your home or chalet.

Feast on Brunch
Head to Freshies, Winona’s or Creekside Cafe & Grill for a mouth watering breakfast. Waffles and cinnamon rolls are two of Winona’s signature dishes, Freshies is known for its breakfast burritos, and scrambles and eggs benedict are Creekside’s specialities.  Pick up a copy of the Steamboat Pilot & Today, the local paper, and sip a steaming cappuccino. Arrive early to avoid the lines.

Soak in the Natural Hot Springs
Located ten minutes drive out of town, Strawberry Hot Springs is the perfect place to relax after a day on the slopes or on your bike. Hot water bubbles from the mountain side and is blended with the river water to 104F and funneled into a series of natural hot pools. By day, enjoy the sound of the wind rustling through the trees and at night relax under the stars. This will be the best $10 you have ever spent. For an extra special treat, book an on-site massage.

Explore the Big Outdoors
Whatever the season, get outside and play. There is something for everyone from meandering along the bike path to skiing through champagne powder on the mountain. Play a round of golf, mountain bike, through aspen groves or feel the adrenaline as you drive your own dog sled. You’ll feel rejuvenated after a day outside. Steamboat is one big outdoor playground awaiting your arrival. Can’t decide between activities or not sure how to arrange them? Contact Moving Mountains and they will take care of everything.

A Sunset to Remember
Alpen-glow on Mount Werner Sip a glass of chilled wine at one of Steamboat’s many gourmet restaurants while watching the sun set over the mountain. Be sure to have your camera handy to capture the alpenglow as it lights up Mount Werner with gorgeous shades of pink and orange.

Unwind at The Spa
Pamper yourself and book an afternoon at the spa. Feel your stress melt away during a hot stone massage or as you are cocooned in a a body wrap. Too cold and snowy to leave the house?   Both massages and facial treatments can be arranged in your cozy chalet.

Enjoy a Catered Dinner in your Home
For a special treat, cap off the day with a catered dinner in your home. Moving Mountains Chalets can arrange for a personal chef to cook a gourmet meal in your home or vacation rental.  Alternatively, a two, three or four course meal can be delivered by Go Gourmet.

So you can see - relaxation in Steamboat Springs is a simple exercise!
