Fireworks, cowboys and a good ol' time
A spectacular scenic drive from Denver will bring you in 3 hours to Steamboat Springs in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. The 4th of July celebration shows off the towns western heritage and small-town welcome like no other.
Apart from spectacular fireworks at Howelson Hill at 9:00pm after the rodeo we have five tips for things that you should pack into your weekend in the mountains.
- Rent a Steamboat vacation rental home - with a slow summer economy there are great last minute discounts up to 50% off luxury vacation rental homes. Stay with your family in private luxury accommodations for less per person than the cost of a highway hotel. Call Moving Mountains Chalets 877-624-2538
- Spend an evening at the Professional Rodeo - Bull riding, team roping, steer wrestling, bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, barrel racing, tie-down roping, plus amateur roping and ram scramble and calf scramble for kids. July 3rd and 4th starting at 7:00pm.
- Tube the Yampa - rent a tube from Bucking Rainbow and float peacefully for approximately 2 hours from 5th street in downtown Steamboat to the James Brown Soul Center of the Universe Bridge.
- Bike the ‘Boat - bring your bikes or rent from Orange Peel Bicycle Service. Easy rides along the paved Yampa Core Trail or miles of sweet single-track on Howelson Hill. Steamboat is designated as a Silver Bicycle Friendly Community by the League of American Cyclists.
- Ride the Howler Alpine Slide - ride a chairlift to the top of Howelson Hill with spectacular views of the ski jumps and downtown. The adrenalin flows as you take a fast descent of the 2400′ Alpine Slide, one of the longest in North America.
